A strategic move into Africa
Play'n GO is a leading casino game developer with a global footprint. It boasts high-quality and mobile-friendly titles, including the world-renowned Book of Dead slot, among others, which are now available to play for real money in Betika’s casino section. The deal between Play'n GO and Betika, which happened in September 2025, was the provider’s first major partnership in Africa.
Play'n GO’s Chief Commercial Officer, Magnus Olsson, said:
“We’re very excited to announce this partnership with Betika, which gives us entry into several new markets for Play'n GO. Betika are one of the leading operators across the entire African continent, and joining forces with an operator of their experience and gravitas is a wonderful opportunity for our business. Betika share our goal of a regulated, sustainable industry, and this announcement marks the beginning of what we believe will be a highly successful partnership.”
In hindsight, the collaboration was a smart choice: Betika operates across several African countries — including Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia and Uganda — and that footprint gives Play’n GO immediate scale in the region. This move already positions Play'n GO as a leading game supplier in Africa’s fast-evolving iGaming market.
Why the partnership matters plenty
The iGaming landscape in Africa is maturing, especially in Kenya, following the formation of the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA), which introduced stricter licensing and betting regulations to protect players and operators.
As such, the Play’n GO–Betika deal signals growing confidence in Africa’s regulated iGaming scene and could encourage future collaborations between global suppliers and local operators. Players at Betika will benefit from a wider selection of titles, and if other developers follow suit, content variety across the region should improve.
The Head of Gaming at Betika, Peter Stagles, added:
“Partnering with Play'n GO is a significant step forward for Betika. Play'n GO’s impressive lineup of games is the perfect complement to our platform, and we are confident that this collaboration will set new standards in the African gaming industry. We look forward to working together to deliver exceptional entertainment to our players. This collaboration is expected to bring enhanced gaming opportunities and excitement to players across Africa, marking a new chapter in the continent’s rapidly evolving gaming sector.”
As more game studios look to expand into emerging markets, the Play'n GO–Betika deal stands out as a useful blueprint for how international studios can successfully enter the region’s evolving gaming market.
